The Unknown: Because Jane was with Jesse and has been in the show for nine episodes it would be easy to mistake her for a main character. Breaking bad and the sopranos are on the top of the mountain. With one exception, Paul, perhaps understandably, went rather dark with his choices. Again it's a wonderfully crafted situation which exposes Walt's emotions to a simmering injustice of his own devising. When it becomes apparent that Jesse doesn't know how to synthesize phenylacetic acid, a basic ingredient that any chemistry student could easily synthesize, he becomes ever more indignant. The final look Walter and Jesse share speaks volumes with no words needed. Saul visits and shows Skyler a credit report indicating that Ted leased a Mercedes three hours after receiving Walt's money. The producers and writers had to make some critical choices, and they have -- audacious ones that also happen to be the absolutely right ones.

But the tight, virtually seamless story, and the sympathetic characters, who nearly all resonate with most viewers, make you willing to set aside any differences with plausibility which, admittedly, the show takes huge liberties with. It's a fairly standalone episode in the serialized drama, so the team took the opportunity to explore Walt and Jesse's psychology and relationship. He saw Jesse strung out on heroin a day or two ago so what would he expect to happen? While Jesse is initially told he will be staying in Mexico permanently, Gus turns the tables when he wipes out most of the cartel leadership with a poisoned bottle of tequila.
The structure of the story was equally good. When he threw the fulminated mercury, the camera slowed to half speed just to show us how beautiful it was. I could write a page for each one of them but I'm just going to mention Aaron Paul. Breaking Bad is finished, but it will not be forgotten.
